Click on the top box and select your desired color from the palette or the gradient. Towards the right, you can see two rectangles placed one over the other. Check the “Simulate Colored Paper” option check-box. In the Document Setup window, go to the “Transparency and Overprint Options”. You can change the artboard color by going to the File menu and then selecting the “Document Setup” option. Click and drag to change the artboard size.
